  • How is My Green Bistro's food different from others?

    We are different in that we have chosen to provide healthy 'haute cuisine' which is 100% vegetarian. This choice gives our chefs the advantage of turning naturally healthy ingredients of which the Food and Drug Administration's latest nutrition guidelines encourage Americans to eat more, into cullinary delights. This means that if you are looking to add variety to your diet by including exceptional vegetarian meals, we stand out because that is all we do.

    Is your packaging environmentally friendly?

    We have carefully chosen our packaging to protect our meals and protect our environment. We are especially proud of our insulated boxes which are made using 100% biodegradable foam insulation lining and a recyclable cardboard shell. In fact, the foam insulation may ‘melt’ a little during shipment depending on the level of condensation in the box. This does not affect the insulation properties of the box.

    How long does delivery take?

    Orders received before 9:00AM Eastern time on Wednesday will usually arrive by Friday of that week. Orders received later in the week should arrive mid-week of the following week.

    Do I need to be home when my order arrives?

    We have packaged your meals so that they will safely be kept frozen when left at your door step or with your doorman until you come home.

    What happens if when I open the cooler box which holds my order the dry ice has melted?

    There is no reason for concern if your order has arrived as scheduled but the dry ice has melted. As long as the food is still ‘refrigerator’ cold to the touch, your meals can safely be stored in the freezer. Please contact us at 877-743-8258 if you are not sure.

    Where do you ship?

    We ship to every address in the continental US. We are not able to ship to P.O. boxes or APO/FPO addresses.

    Where do I find ingredient and nutritional information?

    We are proud of the health profiles for our meals and encourage you to explore the goodness we have to offer. We make it easy for you to review the nutrition information in several ways. First, we showcase nutrition attributes on our web site for each meal with easy-to-see nutrition symbols that highlight characteristics like no cholesterol, low sodium, low fat, gluten free, purely vegan, etc. We then go into more detail with our easy to find standard FDA 'Nutrition Facts' panel detailing the amount of fat, fiber, sodium, vitamins and calories in each dish.     I am not familiar with some of the ingredients in your meals - Tempeh and Seitan, for example. Can you tell me more about them?

    Our meals are prepared using a variety of healthy ingredients with long histories from all over the world. Many of these items have links to our ‘Glossary’. To reach our glossary, click on the ingredient’s link or select the ‘Glossary’ tab on the left hand column vertical menu to view all definitions.

    How many servings are in each meal?

    We have sized our portions to comfortably serve one adult. This said, we have made some meals larger for bigger appetites. Our customers have told us that some meals (those with more than 700 calories) were large enough for two. We have some appetizers and sides that are enough for two. This will be noted on those items.

    How do I prepare My Green Bistro meals?

    Preparing My Green Bistro meals is simple and clean. All that is needed is a pot of boiling water and a pair of scissors. We packaged our meals in pouches designed to be gently simmered in water. We have found this the best way to maintain the culinary integrity of our carefully prepared dinners. We have found that microwaving can heat our food unevenly – leaving some parts cold while burning delicate sauces.

    How long will it take me to prepare a meal?

    Most of our meals are ready when simmered in water for about 10 minutes. Some meals may take slightly longer depending on their size and shape. Detailed preparation instructions accompany each meal package and are also available on this web site in the sections detailing each meal in the ‘Preparation’ tab.

    How many meals can be prepared at one time?

    Several meals can be prepared at one time- especially if the meals are the same or if the preparation instructions are similar. If the meal variety and preparation instructions differ, cooking more than 2 meals at once can be a little cumbersome.

    Can I store leftovers in the refrigerator?

    Yes, simply store leftovers on a covered plate or Tupperware type of sealable container. Do not return the leftovers to their pouches for storage since they are not re-sealable.

    Can I use a microwave to reheat leftover portions?

    Reheating My Green Bistro on a microwave safe dish is perfectly acceptable.

    Can I mix and match my own side dishes to create complete meals?

    Unfortunately not. Our chefs have carefully selected sides that best compliment the entrées. These are packaged and offered as complete dinners.
